Little Feat completes first studio album in 12 years. Sam's Place, a tribute to Bruce featuring Sam Clayton on lead vocals, is released. Sam's Place is Little Feat's tribute to the blues. Percussionist Sam Clayton takes center stage on lead vocals on this release. It is also the first studio album to feature longtime members Bill Payne on keyboards, Kenny Gradney on bass, and Fred Tackett on guitar, along with Scott Sharrard on guitar and Tony Leone on drums. The album was recorded at Sam's Phillips, a studio in Memphis, Tennessee, and produced by Little Feat and Charles A. Martinez, The album features nine tracks, including covers of legendary blues musicians such as Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Little Walter, and Howlin' Wolf, with guest appearances by Bonnie Raitt.
