Petrushka" was originally conceived as a piano concerto, and when it was adapted into ballet music for the Ballets Russes in 1911, the piano was given a lot of space. Stravinsky (1882-1971) also prepared a "four-hand piano version" in parallel with the orchestral score. Following the release of "The Rite of Spring" (SOB06) in 2014 and "The Firebird" (SOB10) in 2016, Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" (SOB06) is now available in the concert hall. (SOB10) in 2016, this is an excellent opportunity to enjoy Stravinsky's "Petrushka" by comparing the orchestral version and the four-hand version. Once again, the orchestral version is performed by the Basel Symphony Orchestra conducted by D.R. Davies, and the "four-hand version" is performed by D.R. Davies and his wife, Maki Namekawa.
