Walden studied music, gender studies, and Southern culture at the University of Mississippi. Both traditional and new Southern cultures form the basis of Walden's musical and literary richness.Sacred Spaces, commissioned for Mississippi's bicentennial, was performed at the opening of the Mississippi Public Museum and at Carnegie Hall. All 16 pieces in The Hours were composed without interruption. They were composed to selected poems and Latin liturgical texts from English, Spanish, and German literature. They are works for the desire to pray. Alice Ann Wright is active in opera, musical theater, and recital, and is also active in creating new works with composers.
