Dream Theater's 14th official bootleg is a live album featuring all the songs from Deep Purple's classic live album "Live in Japan" performed in Osaka! Dream Theater has been releasing the "Lost Not Forgotten Archives" series of official bootlegs of live performances, demos, studio outtakes, and other treasured recordings. The fourteenth in the series is "Made in Japan - Live (2006)," a cover of Deep Purple's famous live album "Live in Japan" (original title: "Made in Japan") released in 1972, in the same order as the songs. When Dream Theater toured in the same city for two nights in a row, the second night of the tour featured a unique plan to completely reproduce a famous album by a band that had influenced them. This album includes the complete reenactment of Deep Purple's "Live in Japan" performed at the Osaka show on January 15, 2006.As with Metallica's fourth bootleg in this series and Iron Maiden's eleventh, the band's musical skill in suddenly covering an entire album by a band they don't normally perform with live is astonishing. This is also a very rare record of the Osaka show, which was also recorded by Deep Purple, albeit at a different venue. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Deep Purple's recording and release of this album in 1972, and the release of this album can be seen as a casual celebration from Dream Theater. The album was previously released in limited production on their own Ytsejam Records label, and has now been reissued in a long-awaited reissue with the latest mastering and new artwork.
