The first piano sonata is Schumann's great work, "The Cry of My Heart for You," a work that expresses his overflowing love for his beloved Clara, who later became his wife. The other is "Fumoreschke" composed in February 1839 in Vienna, where Schumann was on his way to pursue Clara.Through the piano, Hewitt conveys Schumann's complex and mixed emotions, such as his passionate feelings for Clara, his conflicts, and his anguish over the situation where his marriage is not recognized.
