Of course, the "Half Speed Mastering Method" was adopted this time as well, with mastering and cutting done at half the normal speed. This has been well received, as it prevents deterioration of sound quality, resulting in higher frequencies and better stereo balance. The new release is a self-recorded recording by the British composer Sir Malcolm Arnold. Arnold is widely known for his film music, such as the movie "Bridges Over the Battlefield," for which he won an Academy Award in the composition category, but he also wrote nine symphonies, as well as other orchestral works and concertos, which are highly popular. He also began his musical career as a trumpet player, and was a first-rate player who also served as principal of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. This performance is a well-known recording of his own playing with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and Dr. Keith Johnson of Reference Recordings has also listed it as one of his favorite recordings.
