This is the long-awaited world premiere recording of Schnittke's unfinished last work, "Symphony No. 9". The work depicts the triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity, and is full of general emotion and beauty. At the time of its composition, the composer was bedridden, but his spirit remained brilliant. After his death, at his wife's request, Laskatov supplemented the 53 posthumous manuscripts with this work. This disc also includes a copy of his "Nunc Dimittis?
