Master singer Marek Janowski recorded Verdi's masterpiece "The Masked Ball" with the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. The cast includes Fredi de Tomaso (Riccardo), Lester Lynch (Renato), and Scioa Hernandez (Amelia). The Masked Ball" is one of Verdi's mid-period masterpieces, along with "La Forza del Destino" and "Don Carlo". This lighthearted and tragic opera is at once entertaining and highly sophisticated, with Verdi's music expressing three motifs: Riccardo's love for his people, the hostility of the rebels toward Riccardo, and the love between Riccardo and Amelia. Janowski has chosen singers well versed in Verdi's works as the main cast to create a very lively and well-balanced performance. The recording was made in June and July 2021 at the Rainier III Auditorium in Monaco, but it is also noteworthy that only the chorus parts were recorded and mixed in November of the same year at a studio in the Cluj Radio Station in Romania.In addition to the excellence of the performance, this high-quality recording is the result of the PENTATONE label's renowned technical team.
