This is the fourth album by Gianni Savelli Media Res, formed in 2000 by Gianni Savelli, an Italian saxophonist whose diverse career spans jazz, pop, film music, and theater. The "Alisei" of the title, or trade winds, are said to have helped 16th century sailors explore the world, and the album draws parallels between such natural forces and the energy that sustains creativity when exploring unknown music.
