In this performance, Dausgaard's music is bold and dynamic, not merely prosaic and athletic. The tone is clean and "pure" Brahms. Since becoming music director of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra in 1997, Dausgaard has recorded extensively for the BIS and SIMAX labels. His recordings of Schumann, Beethoven, and Schubert symphonies are highly acclaimed for their bold interpretations. His recording of the complete Brahms symphonies is also highly anticipated.
