For the past 12 years, Johnny Depp has been a member of the Hollywood Vampires with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry. The supergroup has released two studio albums to date, which also featured some of the rock scene's most prominent guests, including Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, and Joe Walsh, as well as Jeff Beck, who released He played guitar on "Welcome to Bushwhackers," a song from the Hollywood Vampires' second album, Rise. Shortly thereafter, Depp asked Beck to play lead guitar on a song he had written. That song is "A Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr," the first single from the current album, written in honor of actress and inventor Hedy Lamarr. Beck said the song was the catalyst for their collaboration and is one of his favorite songs from this latest album. I was blown away by this song," Beck said. It's one of the reasons I invited him to do an album with me.In the studio, Beck said, the two of them challenged each other to step outside of their respective comfort zones about the songs they were covering. We haven't had a creative partner like him in years. He was a very big part of this album. I hope people realize what a real musician he is on this album. The fact that Johnny Depp can sing rock 'n' roll seems to be hard for some people to accept. Johnny Depp also commented on Jeff Beck. It's a tremendous honor for me to be able to make music and play with Jeff. Jeff is without a doubt one of the true greats, and I'm so honored to call him my brother. Depp lives up to Beck's trust with this latest performance.He shows off his amazing range of emotional expression on songs like the Velvet Underground's "Venus In Furs," the Everly Brothers' ballad "Let It Be Me," and the Marvin Gaye classic "What's Goin' On. The songs are a great way to hear him express his wonderful range of emotions. Instrumentals such as Davy Spillane's "Midnight Walker" and the Beach Boys' "Caroline No" and "Don't Talk" from the classic "Pet Sounds" prove why Jeff Beck is considered a guitar god. (2/2)
