Description:
This is the "Great American Songbook" of country-folk. Singer/songwriter John Prine, who sadly passed away in April of this year. His early works released by Atlantic Records and Asylum Records are now available in a 7-CD box set! Here are the songs that must be passed down to the next generation. John Prine, who passed away this past April at the age of 73 due to complications from the new coronavirus, was a prolific country-folk songwriter whose career spanned more than 50 years, and whose sound, a blend of American roots music, rockabilly, R&B, and rock 'n' roll, and his unique and exceptional songwriting were a hallmark of his music. His unique and exceptional songwriting has had a profound influence on American music, and his albums released on Atlantic Records and Asylum Records between 1971 and 1980 are now available in a single box set. CROOKED PIECE OF TIME: THE ATLANTIC & ASYLUM ALBUMS (1971-1980)" consists of 7 CDs.Here you'll find everything from the 1971 self-titled album produced by Arif Mardin, 1972's DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH, 1973's SWEET REVENGE, 1975's COMMON SENSE, and the first release on Asylum Records, BRUISED ORANGE. The collection includes John Prine's first seven albums, including "BRUISED ORANGE" (1979), "PINK CADILLAC" (1979), and "STORM WINDOWS" (1980), all recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis. CROOKED PIECE OF TIME, a box set titled after a song from BRUISED ORANGE, includes songs such as "Hello In There," now a country-folk standard sung by many artists, "Sam Stone," "Illegal Smile," "Angel From Montgomery," "Paradise," and "That's The Way The World Goes Around," as well as a collection of his working-class perspective and storytelling. Illegal Smile," "Angel From Montgomery," "Paradise," and "That's The Way The World Goes Around," as well as "Far From Me," "Dear Above," and "The World Goes Around," which showcase his working-class perspective and storyteller's skills. The album is a veritable "American Songbook" of songs from his working-class perspective and storytelling skills, including "Far From Me," "Dear Abby," "Christmas In Prison," "Fish and Whistle," and "Automobile," among many others. In fact, John Prine's songs have been covered by countless artists, from Joan Baez to Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt and Kris Kristofferson, Carly Simon, Norah Jones, Miranda Lambert, The Everly Brothers, and many more. Miranda Lambert, The Everly Brothers, and many more. John Prine is a two-time Grammy Award winner and this year, in 2020, he will receive the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for Special Achievement. Here are the songs that need to be sung by the great, lovable, authentic folk singer whom Rolling Stone magazine called "the Mark Twain of American songwriting.
