This work is a monumental piece, the first official release under the Flying Lotus name on his own prestigious Los Angeles-based label, Brainfeeder. 'BIG MAMA' unfolds as a continuous 13-minute, 7-track composition capturing moments driven by impulse and momentum. Employing a bold approach with no loops and every bar differing, it unleashes hyper-fast, maximalist electronic energy. Packed with danceable, playful sounds that freely traverse breakcore and IDM. Following the production of the feature film 'Ash', this work emerged from an "isolated" creative environment in New Zealand, becoming an ambitious endeavor to reclaim humanity and chaos within electronic music. Christopher Ian McFarren handled the artwork, vividly coloring the work's world with cartoon aesthetics. This release features the audio on Side A, while Side B is a special edition with screen printing. I wanted it to feel like being shot out of a cannon. Just pure explosive, unpredictable energy.
