The 22nd release in this series is the sixth work in the clarinet ensemble series. The performance features the clarinet section of the Hiroshima Wind Orchestra, which won the “Performance Category” award at the 23rd Japan Wind and Percussion Academy Awards this year. They captivate listeners with their well-coordinated ensemble playing and a rich, expansive tone. The title piece on this album is a clarinet quintet arrangement of “Sakura no Uta,” the required piece for the 2012 All-Japan Band Competition. The orchestration is designed to fully showcase the unique characteristics of the clarinet. The album also features many pieces suitable for a variety of settings, including Eiji Suzuki’s arrangement of *Selections from the Operetta “Die Fledermaus”*, which is widely beloved in the wind band repertoire. “Newbury Street,” studded with the melodic phrases characteristic of Hayato Hirose; “Three Miniatures” (Masamichi Amano), which perfectly captures the work’s unique atmosphere with its highly polished arrangement; *The Cricket’s Score* (Yuichi Abe), two works by Hirokazu Fukushima—*Fragments* and *Hourglass*—*Clarinet Dance* (Yosuke Fukuda), which captivates with its diverse musical ideas, and all nine pieces from ≪A Pair≫ (Rika Ishige), a collection created with the theme of “singing” running throughout the entire work.
