Born in Kagoshima, Japan in 1969, he won the first prize in the Tokyo International Music Competition for Conducting and the Hideo Saito Award in 2000 and the Besançon International Competition for Conductors in 2001, which brought him into the limelight. In 2006, he was named the first Permanent Conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra and the first Permanent Conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. In April 2013, he was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. In April 2013, he was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the orchestra, and in 2011, he was appointed Music Director of the Hiroshima Wind Orchestra. He has participated in numerous music festivals including the Kirishima International Music Festival and Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto. In recent years, he has also conducted in the field of opera in high-profile performances at the New National Theatre, the Nissay Theatre, and the Nikikai, among others. In 1998, he became the musical advisor to Mr. Yoshihiro Kimura, and released "Senjo ni Kakeru Hashi" and "Ballet Music "Michi"", CDs of new arrangements of Japanese and orchestral works, and 12 CDs of original wind band works in the "Band Classic Library (BCL)" series, all of which have been long sellers. In January 2011, Tatsuya Shimono assumed the position of Music Director. The live CD (Brain BOCD-7327) of the inaugural concert (the 35th Regular Concert) received high acclaim, including the Record Geijutsu magazine's 2011 49th Record Academy Award (Special Category Brass Band).In April 2013, the group celebrated its 20th anniversary with its first Tokyo concert, which was well received. In addition, the group received the 23rd Academy Award (performance category) from the Japan Society of Wind, Percussion, and Symphonic Band Music together with Music Director Shimono for their significant contribution to the development of music culture. The group's beautiful, supple sound and ambitious programs have attracted attention from all quarters, and it continues to make further strides as a professional brass band that offers new possibilities for brass band music.
