This is a recording of "War Requiem" performed on December 18 from the December 2010 concert at Carnegie Hall "JapanNYC," which marked the 40th anniversary of the Saito Kinen Orchestra and the 50th anniversary of Hideo Saito's death, and Seiji Ozawa's first full-scale return to the orchestra after a long illness. The concert was held amidst high expectations after the great successes of Brahms and Berlioz, but in consideration of Seiji Ozawa's physical condition, the concert was performed with a short intermission. The audience was on their feet as the orchestra and chorus performed in unison under the baton of Seiji Ozawa. This is a record of the memorable New York concert, where the high quality of the chorus was highly acclaimed locally. Universal Music
