Recorded live at the 10th Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto in September 2001, the 40th anniversary of the Saito Kinen Orchestra and the 50th anniversary of Hideo Saito's death. Beethoven's chamber music-like No. 4 and No. 8 symphonies are coupled with "Leonore" Overture No. 1. The complete Beethoven symphony cycle by Seiji Ozawa and the Saito Kinen Orchestra was completed the following year with a live recording of No. 9. Universal Music
