Petrie, a leading recorder player, and Keith Jarrett, a jazz piano giant, have collaborated on several albums, and this collection of Bach sonatas is one of them. Rather than the wild abandon that their names might suggest, the two musicians bring to the forefront a sense of neatness in the way they create tempo rubato and phrasing, and you can hear the way both carefully build up their beautifully grained tones.
