Internationally acclaimed Luxembourg pianist Kathy Krier, named ECHO (European Concert Hall Association) Rising Star for the 2015/2016 season, joins the Genuin label! Cathy Krier, a pianist from Luxembourg who has received international acclaim, has moved to the Genuin label! Her first release on the Genuin label will explore the relationship between "composer and language," featuring composers whose works are inspired by literature, poetry, and storytelling. The album features world premiere recordings of iconic works inspired by literature, such as Ravel's "Gaspard et Gaspard" and Schubert's "The Swan Song," as well as Prokofiev's "Cinderella," which evokes the connection between sound and language, and works by two female composers with ties to the Krier's native Luxembourg. Greek composer Constantia Gruzi's "Ithaca" was commissioned by the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra and was inspired by the Greek poet Constantine Cavafy's poem of the same name. Catherine Koncz is one of Luxembourg's leading composers who is also a professor at the Royal College of Music in London.Marmalation" depicts the dense flight of birds and explores the poetic perceptions derived from it.
