Description:

As is the case with many geniuses, the Italian composer Ferruccio Busoni made his concert debut at the young age of seven and was called a "child prodigy" even as a boy. At the same time, he began composing, and at the age of 17, on the advice of Brahms, he moved to Leipzig to study with Reinecke. However, until he was over 30 years old, he preferred performing to composing. This album contains all of his works written between the ages of 11 and 15, when he was a child prodigy. Although influenced by predecessors such as Bach, Mozart, Weber, and Schumann, all of the pieces have attractive melodies, especially the "Rural Suite," which foreshadows his future maturity.
