Description:

This is the second collection of madrigals by Jesualdo (1566-1613), a composer who suffered a strange fate. These were published during his second marriage preparation period and, as usual, contain a surprising amount of content in a concise writing style. The original authors of the texts are not well known, but at least three names Tasso, Guarini, and Davalos (father of the first wife) seem to be definable. All of them use wonderful verses, but among them, track 12, "As I Feel It," was very famous at the time, and composers of the time competed to use it in their parody masses.
