Description:

Richter's power and fullness in his prime, unbelievable as a human work. A collection of rare Prague live performances and some of the solo recordings have been restored! Tower Records limited edition with Japanese commentary. The highly acclaimed Czech National Radio recordings of Richter, once released on the Prague label, have been difficult to obtain since then, but now they have been licensed and produced in limited quantities. The legendary masterpieces of Richter at his peak, from 1956, when he was rumored to be a "visionary pianist" before his debut in the West, to 1988, when he was at the peak of his maturity, can now be enjoyed. The new mastering by Keisuke Saito of ALTUS label is based on the 96kHz/24-bit digital master from the analog master of Czech broadcasts. In 1998, the Prague label released a boxed set of "Richter's Czech Live Compilation" (KKCC9118) as a memorial to Richter, and although it was expensive at the time (28,285), it did not take long before it sold out. Many listeners may not have been able to obtain it at the time. After that, some of the tracks were sold individually on domestic and imported vinyl, and a few were also released on SACD hybrid discs, but with the downsizing of the Prague label's activities, only a small amount was currently distributed as stock (no further repressings). The box set was once a phantom disc with only information remaining, but this time, the Prague label, which was in its final stages of activity, has confirmed that it is now available for licensing, and the Prague version of Schubert's Piano Sonata No. 13, which came out afterwards. The CDs will be available only for 9 CDs in total, and some of the pieces will be back for the first time in a long time as CDs sold exclusively at the Tower! Unfortunately, the only stereo recordings of "Hammerklavier", Beethoven's 10 piano sonatas, Brahms' Piano Sonata No. 1, and Chopin's Practice Pieces are not available for reissue because the label has no rights to them. The box also includes rare stereo recordings of Beethoven's 10 piano sonatas, Brahms' Piano Sonata No. 1, Chopin's Practice Pieces, part of Rachmaninoff's "Sound Pictures," Schubert's Piano Sonata No. 21, and other pieces. The box also includes many monaural recordings, which are unlikely to be re-released in the future, making this solo collection a rare find. The Japanese-language commentary is included, and is based on the commentary used for the previously released domestic edition of KKCC9118 and the one-off domestic edition of KKCC9118. The sound quality has been completely renewed, using a new 96kHz/24-bit master from the original analog master in Japan and the latest mastering by Mr. Saito of the Altus label. This is a limited-quantity, permanent preservation edition.
