This album celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of English baritone John Carroll Case (1923-2012). Case, who was born in Salisbury and won a scholarship to King's College, Cambridge, was an outstanding baritone and appeared at various music festivals from the mid-1950s, singing works with chorus, English songs including Finzi, and Sullivan's operas. Her singing of J.S. Bach's "Matthew Passion," conducted by Klemperer, is still highly regarded today. This "Winterreise" was recorded in 1973, but has never been released to the public. Now, the beautiful voice of Case has been reproduced in its entirety, mastered by Oscar Torres, Paul Bailey, and Andrew Keener. Naxos Japan
