A collection of piano works by female composers, presented by London-based pianist Antonio Oyarsabal. The album features works by 13 women who lived across various eras and regions, ranging from Jacques de La Guerre of the French Baroque period to Kapralová, born in 1915. Most of these women were accomplished pianists who also composed their own works, but with the exception of Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, Lily Boulanger, and Germaine Tailleferre, they had been largely forgotten until recent years. Oyarsaabal has thoroughly researched the eras in which these women lived and demonstrates the value of their works by bringing them to life through performance. Highlights include rare works by Mana Zukka, a Polish-born composer active in New York, and Lucija Garuta, a Latvian-born composer who studied composition under Paul Dukas. Naxos Japan
