Inkinen and the Deutsche Rundfunk Philharmonie's second Dvořák cycle is the rich and full No. 6! The German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra's fifth Dvořák symphony cycle. After conducting the first three Dvořák symphonies, Inkinen takes over the second half of the cycle, which is full of masterpieces. Dvořák composed the 6th symphony just before his 40th birthday, and it is said to have been strongly influenced by Brahms, especially his 2nd symphony. It is bright and full, with a scherzo movement that is as good as the next three, especially in its dance-like character. Since this was his first symphony to be published, it was formerly known as "No. 1. The dynamic style of the symphony is a testament to the virtuosity of Inkinen, who leads the Deutsches Rundfunk Philharmonie in a commanding performance that is more than enough to bring out the best in this work. Also included are two overtures from Dvořák's opera "The Hussars," which was originally written as music for a play about the Hussars and is now very popular as a concert overture.This release comes amidst the high expectations for Inkinen's Bayreuth Festival debut, which has been postponed until 2022 due to the new coronavirus outbreak, but it is a wonderful album that shows the extent of his abilities.
