A great project to get closer to the musician Ysaÿe, with the first recordings of two concerto fragments, and participation by Dumay and Capuçon! This is a tribute album to the famous Belgian violinist Ysaÿe and the Queen Elisabeth de Bavière, whose vision took shape in the Queen Elisabeth Academy of Music. The album focuses on Ysaÿe as a composer who is not widely appreciated today, and includes works for violin and orchestra as well as chamber music. The two violin concerto sections on DISC 1 are rare first recordings. The disc also includes works by other well-known composers who were dedicated to Ysaÿe and premiered by him. Another important point is the wide range of artists who have taught at the Queen Elisabeth Academy of Music and won top prizes in the Queen Elisabeth Memorial Competition.
