The Kronos Quartet is an American string group that has performed and track-listed with musicians from many different fields, with a focus on contemporary music. They have now realized a unique collaboration with father and son Alim and Fargana Gasmov, who are modernizing Azerbaijan's unique classical music mugam, and Homayun Saki, a performer of the traditional Afghan string instrument rhubarb. The sumptuous, thick, stateless-style ensemble with an approach from both Western and Central Asian music enhances the voices of the Gasmov father and son, who are among the world's strongest singers.
