Description:
The debut album by SUNSUN, a four-piece groove death metal band from Italy. Their original sound blends death metal and groove metal with elements of melodic, black, thrash, nu-metal, and funk. A four-piece groove death metal band from Padua and Venice, Italy. The band’s founder and guitarist, Lorenzo “Mr. Gore” Toffano—whose roots lie in death metal and black metal—wasn’t looking for a “cookie-cutter band,” but rather an “organic, living sound” capable of absorbing diverse influences and transforming them into something truly their own. He subsequently met members who combined explosive energy with diverse personalities: a drummer honed by thrash metal, a vocalist from a folk metal background, a bassist drawing on a wide range of influences from glam rock to groove metal, and a keyboardist with roots in nu-metal and black metal. NewSun stopped searching for a middle ground between genres and set out to build a sound that could truly be called “authentic.” They created a sound built on a foundation of death metal and groove metal, fused with elements of melodic metal, black metal, thrash metal, nu-metal, and even funk. With the addition of Alexandre “Growler” Piccoli on vocals and Mattia “Banz” Banzato on drums, the band’s lineup achieved a definitive balance. The current lineup was then completed with the addition of Mattia “Basserker” Zanella on bass and Lorenzo “Mr. Gore” Toffano on guitar. Their musical roots lie in bands such as Machine Head, Tool, Gojira, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Behemoth, Slipknot, Lamb of God, and Trivium. They released their debut album, *Hanged’s Fate*, via Wormhole Death Records. The result is a sound that fuses the aggression characteristic of death groove with the melancholy of black metal.
