Edited by jazz sax legend Sonny Rollins. M1-3, titled "Sentimental Moods 1973," include performances (by George Cables and others) from the 1973 LA TV show. M4 and after, entitled "With the Modern Jazz Quartet 1951-53," includes M4-7 from a session with MJQ (Milt Jackson and others) in 1953, M8-15 from a performance as the Sonny Rollins Quartet (Art Blakey and others) in December 1951, and M16 from a recording of Miles Davis on piano in January 1951. M16 is a rare recording of Miles Davis playing the piano. Sonny Rollins, born in 1930 (now 93 years old), started playing the saxophone in his teens and joined J.J. Johnson and Bud Powell's albums as a professional in 1949 at the age of 19. He recorded "I Know" with Miles Davis on piano as his first leader album. This led him to sign a contract with Prestige, and he released his first album, "Sonny Rollins Quartet" in 1952.Since then, they have consistently released albums such as "Moving Out" (1954) and "Worktime" (1955). In 1956, he established a firm position with his masterpiece, "Saxophone Colossus". From the 1970s onward, he played on electric jazz and film music albums, as well as rock albums by the Rolling Stones and others. Although he had to take a number of breaks due to drugs, he is a legend who has been active for more than 70 years since his debut.
