The 4-CD set of Cambrelin & Yomiuri Symphony's "Assisi," which became an instant sensation when it was released on 4 CDs and was selected for the "Special Category/Historical Recording" at the 2018 Recording Academy Awards, is now available on SACD Single Layer! DISC 1 contains acts 1 and 2, and DISC 2 contains act 3. The Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra and permanent conductor Cambourin performed the domestic premiere live performance of the complete version of Messiaen's lengthy opera "St. Francis of Assisi" in 2017. This legendary performance was held to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra's founding, and was awarded first place in the "Concert Top Ten 2017" project by "Ongaku no Tomo" magazine. In addition, the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra won the 49th (2017) Suntory Music Award and the 30th Music Pen Club Music Award in the same year, and this performance of "Assisi" was undoubtedly a major factor.Cambourin, who has served as the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra's permanent conductor for three terms and nine years since April 2010, will enter his final year in 2018, marking a great achievement in the history of Japanese performance.
