Colouring, a project by Nottingham-based songwriter/producer Jack Kenworthy. Second album "Love to You, Mate", about the most incredible year, released on Bella Union. The Nottingham-based songwriter/producer's life changed forever when his brother-in-law, Greg Baker, was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in February 2021, just months before the release of his debut album, Wake. The young man's life seemed to be dismantled, but the year that followed proved to be the most incredible. Since the release of Wake, an album that drew influences from the post-Britpop of the 00s (Coldplay, Elbow, Keane) but also incorporated electronic rhythms from Radiohead and James Blake, Colouring has been a solo Jack Kenworthy's debut was a renaissance.EPs such as "Symmetry," "Heathen," and "Bn" were released on Interscope Records, where Colouring was a more pop-oriented band backed by three other musicians. These EPs led to tour support for The 1975, airplay on mainstream radio, an extensive headlining tour in North America, and the inclusion of "Time" (the lead single from "Bn") on the soundtrack to 13 Reasons Why. Despite the title Love To You, Mate, the album is not concerned with Kenworthy's relationship with Greg. He is obviously the center of the album, and the last two songs are definitely dedicated to him. But it would have been dishonest to make a record solely about my relationship with him. The goal and intention of the album was a message of love (to the family) and gratitude for what they did for us. We were a tight-knit, inseparable group of friends for a year.In a strange way, it was a year that was both terrifying and wonderful," Kenworthy says.
