Böhm VPO and the Great Gurudas live! The original ORF tapes from 1957 have been well preserved, but Huber's mastering of the Cell set has been equally successful. The range of the sound is a bit monaural, and the powerful timpani, which I suspect to be Hochleiner's, and the explosive brass in the coda of No. 7 are captured beautifully and exhilaratingly. Gourda's piano is also beautiful and I fell in love with listening to it. A happy piece. ［Comment courtesy of King International.]
