CD reissue of 2007 work by Afro-Arab songwriter Otman Moamed Elias. The Comoros archipelago consists of four islands sandwiched between Mozambique and Madagascar in eastern Africa. The western three of these islands are independent countries called the Union of Comoros, and the remaining island is Mayotte, a French overseas territory. Maresh means "trifle" in Arabic. Otman Moamed Elias, who has this stage name, was born in Moroni, Grand Comor Island in 1961. He returned to the island in 1989 and became a singer-songwriter under the stage name Maresh. He sings in a variety of languages, including Comorian, Swahili, Arabic, French, and English, and his sound is that of a sophisticated ensemble plus chorus, with a superbly technical acoustic guitar at its core.
