The film Western Stars is a cinematic representation of Springsteen's first studio album in five years. The film focuses on scenes of the album's songs being performed at Stone Hill Farm in Colts Neck, New Jersey, backed by a band of over 30 people, including a full 20-piece orchestra. The film premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. Written and performed by Bruce Springsteen.Special guest Patti Scalfa, produced by Jimmy, John Landau, Barbara Carr, and George Travis, with Springsteen as exec producer. The original score was by Springsteen. Longtime collaborator Tom Jimeney is co-directing this film with Springsteen. Springsteen said in a previous interview. We knew we weren't going to tour this album. We knew we weren't going to tour the album, so we were looking for a way to bring it to an audience, and this (film) seemed like the best way to do it. I'm looking forward to people seeing it. The Western Stars album was one of Springsteen's most critically acclaimed albums of all time, and its success at #1 in the UK puts Springsteen in the top five of "UK #1 artists," alongside David Bowie and the Rolling Stones. The album also earned Springsteen a number one spot in the U.K.
