Galatea Quartet's latest album in 2018 is Argentine Tango with rhythmic and rich harmonyThe Galatea Quartet has an overwhelming ability to play Argentine Tango and is based in Switzerland, where they are developing unique activities. The quartet has been attracting attention for their approach to music and their unique approach to playing genres, and their new recording is a collection of masterpieces of Argentine tango. All are famous tangos of yesteryear, newly arranged for this album by up-and-coming composers & arrangers Pablo Flagella and Tomás Ninet and others. The performances are distinguished by their originality, which not only shows their great technical mastery, but also makes full use of the character of each instrument and each individual. The Galatea Quartet was formed in 2005 by young members in Zurich. They studied with the Carmina Quartet and the Artemis Quartet, among others. The quartet has already won many prizes at the Geneva International Music Competition, the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition, and the Swiss Migro Chamber Music Competition, and has received high acclaim. He has also premiered a wide range of repertoire from Haydn to Pink Floyd, as well as contemporary music.Yuka Tsuboi, 1st violin, studied at Yehudi Menuhin School in England at the age of 14. She won the second prize at the Sarasate International Violin Competition in Spain, the first prize in the violin category at the Kivanis Competition in Zurich, the first prize in both the solo and chamber music categories at the International Music Competition in Padua, and is currently studying at the Conservatory of Music in Zurich with world renowned teacher Zakhar Bronn, as of 2018.
