Like many other British artists such as The Beatles, The Animals, Herman's Hermits, The Hollies, The Dave Clark Five, and The Searchers, The Kinks initially released their own albums in the US with different contents (song selection), titles, and jackets from their home country. The Kink Kontroversy, the fifth album, was released in the U.S.A., with the same content and title as the original albums released by Pye Records in the U.K. from 1964 to 1965, but with a different jacket. The fifth album, "The Kink Kontroversy", has the same title as the original album, but the cover is different.
Oldays Records had previously reissued the first five U.S. albums and the eighth live album "The Live Kinks" (same content as the U.K. album but with a different title and jacket) in paper jackets, but the sixth album "The Kinks Greatest Hits! ～Excerpt from the commentary
