I’d be happy if people of my generation enjoyed them!” Nobuyasu Okabayashi Nobuyasu Okabayashi is a leading figure in the Japanese folk music scene who has consistently shared songs exploring themes of society and the self throughout the ages. In this album, while tackling profound themes—not only aging but ultimately the looming reality of death—he presents nine tracks that capture the authentic, down-to-earth Nobuyasu Okabayashi, evoking both laughter and tears. Simple lyrics and melodies stripped of all excess. Here lies the true essence of a “song.” The album’s liner notes were written by rakugo storyteller Shinosuke Tatekawa. This will likely be his final original album. Attention is focused on his presence as an artist who has remained active on the front lines for so long, as well as on the power of his message, which remains as strong as ever.
