Naoto Takenaka’s ALFA Debut Album. A Crystalization of ’80s Subculture Through Music, Comedy, and Acting A reissue project celebrating Naoto Takenaka’s 70th anniversary, as he turned 70 on March 20, 2026! A strictly limited-edition release! Naoto Takenaka’s debut album, released by Alpha Records on September 25, 1984 (CD release in 1994). The producer was Shigeichi Kuwahara, who also produced YMO’s *Zoshoku* (1980, Alpha Records). The album’s structure—alternating between Takenao’s vocal tracks and comedy sketches—mirrors that of the original release. The comedy sketches feature City Boys, Seiko Ito, Yuji Nakamura, and Koyuki Matsumoto. Musicians include Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, Keiichi Suzuki, Hajime Tachibana, Hiroshi Sato, and Koji Ueno. The title track, “Kawatta Katachi no Ishi,” is an arrangement by Haruomi Hosono based on the folk song “Izu no Sataro.” In addition to covers of Showa-era pop songs such as Shizuko Kasagi’s “Tokyo Boogie-Woogie,” Yujiro Ishihara’s “The Man Who Calls the Storm,” The Peanuts’ ’s “Love Vacation,” and Yuzo Kayama’s “Because I Like You,” as well as the military song “Burning Sky,” Sadistic Mika Band’s “Funky Mahjong,” and The Beatles’ “Goodnight.” [Limited Edition] Analog; mastering by Katsutoshi Kitamura of Warner Music Mastering; cut by Sony Music Solutions Shizuoka Press
