Ten years after her previous album, *Pop Deluxe*, “the 1980s pop icon”—Mari Wilson—is back. Her new “cute pop” album, *Girl About Town*, is now available. Mari Wilson took the 1980s British pop scene by storm with her beehive hairstyle and electropop. She burst onto the scene like a comet via the legendary indie label “Compact Organization,” run by Todd Taylor. Now, with a career spanning over 40 years, the “Queen of Needsden Soul” has released a new album that serves as a true culmination of her life and the diverse musical styles she has cultivated over the years. Starting with the sunshine pop track “Good News,” released as the lead single, the healing-themed “Come On Out” and the Philadelphia soul-inspired “Love Letter” were released as a double A-side second single and are currently generating a lot of buzz. Other tracks include “Lost on the Dance Floor,” which evokes the glamour of 1980s Camden Palace; “Man About Town,” inspired by a 1960s TV show theme song; the groovy soul track “We Got Something,” and “Kaleidoscope”—a song based on events that took place in New York in 1989—are among the collection of accessible and diverse tracks. The album was produced by Mari herself and Adrian York (formerly of Roman Holiday), who has collaborated with her for many years since their 2005 album *GirlTalk*. The Japanese edition includes two bonus tracks: “Jack” and “SOS.”
