In 1990, Kanji Ishimaru made a striking debut as Raoul in the musical *The Phantom of the Opera* and enjoyed 17 years of popularity as a leading actor with the Shiki Theatre Company. Since becoming a freelance artist in 2009, he has expanded his scope beyond the stage to include television dramas, films, and other visual media, as well as a music career as a singer, and work as a host and narrator. Continuing to showcase his multifaceted talents, Kanji Ishimaru will present a feast of high-quality music at the prestigious Cotton Club alongside some of the finest jazz musicians, including Makoto Kuriya (piano), Koichi Noh (bass), and Hiroyuki Noritake (drums). Makoto Kuriya, who serves as the arranger and leader of the trio, has been active worldwide since the 1990s. Demonstrating a versatility that sometimes transcends the boundaries of jazz, he has also worked on composing, arranging, and producing pop music, as well as TV theme songs and film scores. Following the acclaim for their collaboration on the 2024 cover album *Miki Ishimaru/with FRIENDS*, this superb live album allows listeners to experience their performance with the unique immediacy of a jazz club setting.
