2024 Newly Remastered, First-Ever Stereo Release! Commemorating the 150th Anniversary of Vilém Broděk's Death. The opera "In the Well," recorded in 1959, makes its CD debut! Czech composer Vilém Brodek (1834-1874) marks the 150th anniversary of his passing in 2024. To commemorate this, the Supraphon label presents the first-ever CD release of the opera "In the Well," recorded in 1959 with Škvorec conducting the Prague State Opera Orchestra. This recording was briefly released on LP in the early 1960s, but only in mono. It then disappeared from catalogs for decades. Now, over 65 years after its creation, this precious recording from the dawn of stereo technology has been meticulously remastered from the original tapes. Renowned engineer Aleš Dvořák has realized its first-ever stereo CD release. The soloists are Štěpánka Štěpánová (alto), Miranda Šubrtová (soprano), Ivo Žídek (tenor), and Zdeněk Kroužek (bass), a stellar cast from the Prague State Opera Chorus of that era.This is also the only complete recording of František Škvor's opera.
