The quartet won the Vittorio E. Limbozzi Prize in Florence in 2004, won first prize at the Prague Spring International Competition in May of the following year, and then, the very next month, took first prize at the Paolo Borciani Competition—one of the world’s three major string quartet competitions. With their overwhelming talent, they garnered significant attention at the time as an ensemble poised to lead the next generation. Since then, every album they’ve released on the Supraphon label has swept numerous prestigious awards, thanks not only to their high standard of performance but also to their rich expressiveness. This album stands as a prime example of their work. Recorded in a single session in June 2010, it focuses on Dvořák, the composer who represents their musical roots. Alongside the “New World Symphony” and the “Cello Concerto,” this album showcases the finest achievements of Dvořák’s American period.
