A live recording of Rachmaninoff’s *Piano Concerto No. 3* by Yin Chongzong, one of China’s leading international pianists. This album captures his performance on April 28, 2001, at a concert celebrating the 85th birthday of his mentor, Tatiana Krafchenko. It blends exceptional technique with poetic and philosophical musicality, masterfully portraying the work’s grand structure and profound lyricism. After making his debut at the age of nine, Yin Chongzong studied at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Central Conservatory of Music. He established his international reputation by winning first prize at the Vienna International Youth Piano Competition at age 17 and second prize at the Tchaikovsky International Competition at age 20. He is also known as a central figure in the creation and promotion of the "Yellow River Piano Concerto," and his recordings of the work have received high acclaim. The piece has been performed in over 50 countries worldwide, and he himself has performed it more than 1,000 times. Since his Carnegie Hall debut in 1983, he has been active around the world while also making a name for himself as an educator, mentoring many outstanding pianists including Lang Lang, Ilya Eiting, Eric Lu, Gwyneth Chen, Son Yeol-moo, and George Li.
