Formed in the late 1960s by a quartet led by frontman Robert-Jan Stips (keyboards)—along with Sachavan Geest (flute), Marco Vrolijk (drums), and Ron van Eck (bass)—SUPERSISTER is a renowned Dutch band that established its own unique jazz-rock sound while drawing inspiration from Frank Zappa and contemporaries in the Canterbury scene such as EGG and SOFTMACHINE. After repeated hiatuses and reunions following the sudden passing of band members, the group—now a trio consisting of Robert-Jan Stips, Rinus Gerritsen (b), known as an original member of GOLDEN EARRING, and Leon Klaasse (drs), a session drummer active across a wide range of genres—continues to perform energetically. Their first live album under this current lineup, *T3IO*, was released in 2026! Featuring a best-of-hits setlist centered on 1970s tracks—including fan favorites like "Judy Goes On Holiday," "Metamorphosis," and "A Girl Named You"—the album also includes "I Am You Are Me/Transmitter" from their 2019 comeback album *RETSISREPUS*. Leveraging the flexibility and agility unique to a trio formation, their nimble ensemble—woven with technical solos and interplay that showcase the band’s veteran flair—pays homage to the SUPERSISTER of the past while also presenting an authentic portrait of the band as it exists today. This captivating performance makes for an excellent introduction to the band!
