With his smoky voice and soothing neo-soul, singer-songwriter and producer Alex Isley was the “best-kept secret” and “insider’s favorite” of the American music scene. His major-label debut album, *WHEN THE CITY SLEEPS*, which seamlessly blends soul, R&B, and jazz with dreamy soundscapes and is filled with rich vocals and soothing production, is set to be released as a 2-LP vinyl set. The son of Ernie Isley of the legendary Isley Brothers, he has performed as a backing vocalist for artists such as Selena Gomez, Meghan Trainor, and Alicia Keys. Born in New Jersey and raised in Los Angeles, she first took the stage at age five and learned the fundamentals of songwriting and performance from her family’s performances. She studied music theory at the LA County High School for the Arts and graduated from UCLA with a major in jazz. She also received training in perfect pitch from her grandmother, who was an opera singer. In 2012, she released the critically acclaimed EP *LOVE/ARTMEMOIRS*, followed the next year by her debut album *DREAMSINANALOG*. With releases such as *LUXURY*, *THE BEAUTY OF EVERYTHING*, and *WILTON* and *MARIGOLD*—collaborations with Jack Dine—she has built a sound that evolves steadily while maintaining a consistent style.
