"NIMRODS," a coming-of-age road movie in which Green Day—the world’s most beloved punk rock band—serves as producers and also appears, is set to release a two-disc soundtrack on vinyl LP featuring their new song “I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.” and previously unreleased live recordings. Directed and written by Lee Kirk, who developed the project alongside Green Day, and produced by Tim Perrell, the film draws inspiration from the band’s own youthful experiences. The story follows three high school students who mistakenly believe they’re opening for Green Day and set off on a cross-country journey to Los Angeles—a trip filled with adventure and mischief. The cast features an all-star lineup including Mason Thames, Kayler Kofman, Jenna Fischer, McKenna Grace, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, and Sean Gunn. The soundtrack features a total of 30 tracks, including 22 classic hits such as “BasketCase,” “When I Come Around,” “BrainStew,” and “American Idiot,” as well as new songs and four previously unreleased live tracks from their performance at the Los Angeles Palladium. It also features four tracks by The Paradox, Ultra Q (led by Billy Joe’s eldest son, Jacob), McKenna Grace, and the fictional band Analog Dogs from the film. Although a Japanese release date has not yet been set, this is a must-listen for all rock kids.
