Baroque cello sonatas are generally attributed to Antonio Vivaldi and Benedetto Marcello, but there are also many works by lesser-known composers such as Antonio Caldara, Giuseppe Sammartini, Giovanni Bononcini, and Wenceslas Suplany, who was born around 1700 in Bohemia and rose to fame as a cellist and composer in Paris.
