This is a collection of three works for violin and piano that symbolize France at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, filled with the charm of Michał Buchkowski, a violinist of note today who is active in many fields. The collection is centered around "Melancholy," a short work by César Franck with a beautiful melody and nostalgic character; the Sonata by Guillaume Lecoux, a composer who had a promising future as the last pupil of Franck but died young at the age of 24; the Sonata by Louis Vierne, who studied under Franck's pupil The program consists of works by three generations of Franck's heirs: the sonatas of Guillaume Lecoux, who died young at the age of 24, and Marcel Dupré, who studied under Franck's pupil Louis Vierne. This is the world premiere recording of Dupré's sonata. A graduate of the Gdansk Stanisław-Moneuszko Academy of Music, Wuchkowski has received prestigious scholarships from the Belgian government and the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and has performed throughout Europe, Australia, Africa, and elsewhere.
