Description:
David! Performed by Danny Bonvin, Principal Trombonist of the Munich Philharmonic The theme of "destiny," symbolized in Verdi's opera La forza del destino, is a crucial motif not only in opera but throughout all Romantic music. This album begins with Liszt's Prelude, used as victory music under the Nazi regime, and continues with Ferdinand David's Petite Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra. David was also renowned as a virtuoso violinist. Written for the virtuoso hailed as the "God of the Trombone" in the 19th century, this work is now an essential repertoire piece featured in auditions for major orchestras worldwide. In this recording, internationally acclaimed trombonist Danny Bonvin vividly captures the charm of this beloved masterpiece—a "sacred text" that maximizes the instrument's appeal—with rich lyricism and overwhelming technical prowess. Furthermore, from Verdi's La Forza del Destino Overture, and Wagner's grand music drama world depicting power and love, Europe's premier wind ensemble, the Salzburg Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic (now the Salzburg Wind Philharmonic), under Principal Conductor Hansjörg Angerer, traces this "Path of Destiny" through its unique program. Swiss virtuoso Danny Bonvin became principal trombonist of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra at the young age of 17 in 1982. As a soloist, he has performed extensively with orchestras across Europe. He is also a professor at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg, dedicated to nurturing the next generation. He is one of the leading trombonists of our time. Tokyo M Plus
