Description:
The band was formed in Lawrence, Kansas in 1971 with Dennis Loewen (vo/b) at the core, and disbanded in the same year on a local label with only their only album left. The original version of the album has become rare. Although the band is from North America, their symphonic/melodic rock sound is characterized by the strong influence of British rock of the same era, as can be seen from the inclusion of a cover of YES's 'Time And A Word', and the album's overall British-style gentrified mood and restrained melancholy will leave listeners in awe. The album's English-style gentrified mood and restrained melancholy will capture the hearts of listeners. The mellotron and flute sounds that suddenly emerge from the folky and light ensemble, as well as the heavy chorus arrangement in which all members participate, transcend art rock and are truly progressive in style. The cover of Edger Winter's Winter's Dream Suite on the B-side of the LP is a complete turnaround, with the band led mainly by the electric piano, and the detailed interplay and cymbal-intensive drumming show a jazz idiom and sense that is common to Canterbury music. There are also many scenes where you can feel the jazz idiom and sense common to Canterbury music.More than half of the album is made up of covers, but the pop and catchy melodic sense demonstrated in the original songs rivals that of some well-known bands, and it is a work of such perfection that it is regrettable that this is the only work of its kind! The CD only includes 4 bonus tracks: 'Things Get Better', 'Freedom Rider', 'Rainmaker', and 'Magnificent Sanctuary Band'.
